Poster Girl

The Consequence Of War: A Potent Documentary Short About PTSD
Note: This is NOT a commercially available DVD. Instead it is a DVD-R on-demand product, which means that it is put on a disc when you order it. I personally hate this approach, but it seems to be more prevalent on specialized titles that might not have a big built-in market.

As I watched Sara Nesson's 38 minute documentary short "Poster Girl", it reminded me of the feature film "Hell and Back Again." If you have not seen this harrowing and effective picture, I strongly recommend that you do. There have been any number of films made about soldiers in combat and/or soldiers returning home from conflict. Any documentary feature about our involvement in recent military events may have the tendency to turn the primary topic to political debate. Powerful
I loved this film. Pain all around it that you can feel as soon as the movie begins. Robynn is a great character and her PTSD struggle and journey is overwhelming. I also liked the fact the last third of the movie ends with a positive note of hope for her and other veterans.

All in all a great short I really enjoyed and will watch again soon.

Stunning and Socially Important
Even years after viewing this movie, I still return to it as one of the most profound documentaries that I've ever seen. This film captures the consequences of war that are often swept under the carpet by lawmakers or downplayed by the very military responsible for them. Robynn Murray is brilliantly exposed in this piece, but not for our voyeuristic pleasure...this woman has a message and Sara Nesson captures it, by neither glorifying or downplaying the truth.

Women haven't been staying at home during wars for quite some time. All to often, films tend to glamorize war by skipping the gruesome truths, downplaying innocent deaths, and romanticizing the role of women. Poster Girl lifts the veil from all of these things and shows the dark realities of life after combat. Everyone should watch this film...elected officials, people going off to war, veterans striving to be understood, and every day citizens around the world, to see that the medical and social effects of war. I...
